From the center of Sewen, a charming Vosges village nestled in the Doller Valley, this hike takes you to the Alfeld Lake, passing by the Sewen Lake. The route first follows a small road or a forest path that climbs gently towards Lake Sewen. This first lake, nestled in a wooded valley, is an excellent landmark for a first break.
The climb continues on marked trails of the Vosges Club through a beautiful beech-fir forest, sometimes along mountain streams. The path becomes steeper at times, but remains accessible to any experienced hiker. Gradually, the views open up to the Vosges mountains, before reaching the Alfeld Lake, located at an altitude of 925 m.
This lake, overlooked by the slopes of the Ballon d’Alsace, is one of the most beautiful in the massif: wild, calm, bordered by deep forests. Its ancient masonry dam and downstream waterfall add to the natural ambiance of the lake.
