To discover the typical villages.
From the Staedly recreation area, head for Roeschwoog railway station and head for Leutenheim. Pass through this peaceful community where the half-timbered houses are colourful and jealously maintained. Take the road to the hamlet of Koenigsbruck leaning against the forest of the same name. Continue towards Forstfeld.
At the end of the village, the imposing mill building (recently closed) marks the signal to head in the direction of Kauffenheim. In this commune time seems to be suspended so that you can watch out for the appearance of an Alsatian woman in traditional costume. Retrace your steps to reach Roppenheim. The imposing and massive bell tower, pierced with loopholes, would be the remnant of an old castle or even a Roman fortress. Adjoining the church is a beautiful and rare 18th century half-timbered ensemble forming the tithe barn. Continue to Neuhaeusel, a former fishing village. Join Roeschwoog and end the tour by discovering the baroque church, the numerous restaurants, the Batiston residence (town hall) and the intriguing sphinxes in the town hall park.
