Between valleys, forests and vineyards, the route offers a glimpse of authentic Alsace. Marlenheim, the tour's starting point, is also the northern gateway to the Wine Route. The route soon crosses the Kronthal, where the pink sandstone used to build Strasbourg Cathedral was quarried. The route then follows the Mossig valley, passing through Wasselonne and Romanswiller before reaching Marmoutier, further north, an essential stop on the Alsace Romanesque Route, with its Abbey of Saint-Etienne. The town also houses an interesting interpretation center, the “Atelier de l'orgue”, which promotes this sacred instrument, particularly present in Alsace. The tour continues towards Saverne, the “city of roses”, with its exceptional Château des Rohans standing proudly opposite the dynamic marina. Cyclists continue northwards to Bouxwiller in the Pays de Hanau, with its outstanding architectural heritage. A visit to the Musée du Pays de Hanau and the Musée Judéo-alsacien will make this a cultural stop of choice. The route then winds its way through the Kochersberg, offering rolling landscapes covered in cereal crops, back to the starting point.
