Stroll in the Bresse bocage (southern loop)

Starting from the village of Marboz, a large loop to meet the hamlets scattered between woods and pastures. Passage to the water level of Les Teppes, Malaval wood and the Montsouge domain.

The BOCAGE is a recognized landscape specificity of the Bresse region. Unfortunately, a lack of knowledge of the actors of the territory on the role of the hedges and the evolution of the modes of culture could cause by places an uprooting of these hedges. Studies and research show the importance of hedgerows in several fields
- agronomic: windbreak, regulation of parasites, limitation of soil erosion and runoff, nitrate traps, refuges for wildlife ... ;
- environmental: maintenance and development of biodiversity;
- landscape: residential and tourist attractiveness.
Today, the public authorities have put in place measures to encourage the replanting of these hedgerows.
A GEOLOGICAL PARTICULARITY IN BRESSE: thanks to the characteristics of its subsoil, notably the presence of a thick layer of salt, Marboz has several underground natural gas storage wells operated by Gaz De France.
During your walk, you will certainly meet horsemen and horsewomen of the very dynamic society "Les Amis du Cheval". You will notice the strong impact of the EQUESTRIAN ACTIVITY on the territory: breeding of Comtois horses, stables, horse parks as well as numerous events throughout the year.
