ITINERARY
From the forest entrance, follow the forest track towards La Palud d'Ornon (OBP 661). At La Palud d'Ornon, follow the signs for Col d'Ornon (OBP 635). This route passes through La Poyat, La Poutuire and Le Rivier.

Return by the same route, or choose the variant indicated.

ATTENTION: On this itinerary, the markers are sometimes a little difficult to find. Often, you just have to walk a little further to find the markings.

VARIATION
You can do a loop instead of a round trip on the same itinerary.
The itinerary is then as follows:

UP: From the same starting point, follow the path to La Palud d'Ornon le Haut and continue towards Ornon (OBP632). At Ornon, take the path that descends steeply towards La Poyat until you reach the tarmac road. Cross the road to continue on the other side.
At the center of La Poyat village, continue towards La Tour, then La Poutuire/Le Rivier (OBP 635). From Le Rivier, follow the path to Col d'Ornon.

DESCENT: From the Col, follow the same route down to the Col d'Ornon station. From here, head for Bois du Clot - Le Schuss. When you reach Le Schuss gite, the markings are hard to find. Go along the right-hand side of the building, then cross the meadow keeping to the left and follow the path down steeply into the forest as far as L'Enverset. From here, turn right towards La Tufière and the "Sapin remarquable" - the tree is a few minutes' walk from the path, and is well signposted - and follow the path to Pont des Oulles. Cross the road and turn left onto the path behind the fence for a final climb to the center of La Poyat, before descending (OBP 635) to La Palud d'Ornon, then following the path back to the starting point.
