What to see: Père Coton’s Tower and the Tower of Eggs, alleys, the Gord gate (14th century), half-timbered houses, site of the pillory, orientation table. 12th-century chapel: standing on a promontory, the Chapel of Our Lady traces the history of Néronde from the Gallo-Roman period to the Renaissance. What to see: the 14th-century frescoes, the 17th-century altarpiece, the polychrome wooden statues.
The monks of Cluny settled there at the end of the 10th century and built the Benedictine church and priory. Pouilly was built around these buildings and surrounded by protective ramparts, of which beautiful remains today.
