Description

From Villemotier, between sunrise and sunset, but especially between Bresse and Revermont, go for a walk in the plain of Solnan. Footbridges, mills, and poype will punctuate this route while taking the time of course to raise the eyes on the Mont Myon.

On this walking tour, without any major difficulty, take the time to observe the fauna and flora while walking through the wet meadow of Groboz and catch your breath, admiring the Mont Myon and the skilful flights of the paragliders.

Between sunrise and sunset, Villemotier, leaning on the east side of the Revermont, is extended on the west side by the Bresse plateau. Walking tour in the direction of

La GRIFFONNIERE, a seigneury owned in 1330 by two brothers ODET and JEAN DE L'AUBEPIN, a nobleman nicknamed Griffon, hence the name of La Griffonnière. The title of Lord of la Griffonnière did not appear until the 16th century. The domain was sold to the rectors of the Hospital on July 2, 1720 by Gaspard De Branges. In 1789, the Hôtel Dieu of Bourg-en-Bresse owned it with the title of Barony.

The MOTTES CASTRALES known as "POYPES", numerous in the department of Ain and more particularly in Dombes, arouse curiosity. They were attributed with far-fetched functions: tombs, habitats reserved for fairies, places of Gallic worship... Today, thanks to archaeological research, we can affirm that the "poypes" were medieval castles built throughout Europe
between the Xth and the XIIIth century.

The poype of the Griffonnière that you can still see, carries a legend: it would shelter a "bronze horse" buried under the ruins of the castle of these places.

On this circuit, without major difficulty, take the time to observe fauna and flora by traversing the wet meadow of Groboz and catch your breath, admiring the Mount Myon and the skilful flights of the paragliders.
