Starting from Beaupont or Domsure, a stroll along the Bresse paths between the Sevron and Solnan rivers. A typical landscape of hamlets, pastures and views of the Revermont before reaching the Fougemagne pond and its large forest.
Before reaching the Etang de Fougemagne, a spectacular point on the route, you'll pass the Moulin de Romanèche, also known as the Moulin Revel, on the Solnan river. This mill bears witness to the rich milling activity of the past on the Solnan and Sevron rivers. For a century, from 1650 to 1750, it was owned by the Saint-Sulpice family, then by the Carthusian monks of Montmerle. Acquired during the French Revolution by Denis-Joseph Revel, the mill now belongs to the MICHEL family, who use it to manufacture flour for cattle feed. Some old parts are worthy of note, including the weir made of heavy ashlar.
At the end of a gravel path, the Fougemagne pond comes into view. It takes its name from the forest of the same name, whose origin lies in the undergrowth of large ferns. This 3-hectare pond, now owned by the commune of Coligny, belonged to Gaspard Guyenard seigneur d'Andelot in the 18th century. It was used for hemp scutching, an operation that involved separating the woody parts from the fiber. Today, the pond is leased by the commune to the "Les amis du Solnan" fishing club.
