Description

This trail winds in-between the ski slopes, offering unobstructed views of the Dents du Midi and Dents Blanches mountains and perfect snow conditions throughout the season.

The snowshoe trails start at the top of the Croix-de-Culet cable car (look for the pink flag indicating the start).

Exit the cable car building and head straight ahead downhill towards Les Crosets. Then, turn left and cross the ski slope (be cautious of skiers) following the marked trail.

When you reach the restaurant Refuge du Chaudron, continue straight on in front of the restaurant and the drag lift arrival station. The trail will head downhill and curve around the left edge of the reservoir.

Follow the #11 signs towards the place called Chaupalin, where you can refuel with something tasty at the picturesque Chez Yoyo et Jiby restaurant. From here, you can also feast your eyes on a splendid panorama overlooking Les Crosets and including the Dents du Midi (3257m), the Ruan massif (3220m) and the Dents Blanches (2760m).

Return to the Croix de Culet along the same route.

Au RED, on retrouve une ambiance trendy et conviviale face à un panorama d’exception. Au menu : de délicieux burger, des smoothies bien frais, des transats et de la musique électro. Un cadre parfait pour lézarder au soleil avant de repartir en piste. Les nouveaux patrons animent la station avec une programmation musicale de haut vol. A partir de 15h00, la terrasse se transforme en après-ski, avec musique, cocktails et DJ. Des musiciens et DJ dénichés aux quatre coins d’Europe font dandiner les skieurs sur ce lieu insolite.

Le Restaurant vous accueille pour un petit creux, une collation vitaminée, un repas gourmand, une friandise maison ou une dégustation de vins. / De la terrasse, la vue est imprenable sur les Dents Blanches et le glacier du Ruan.. / Cuisine ouverte en été de 09h00 à 18h00, le soir sur réservation

Champéry - Croix de Culet Cable Car

Inaugurated in 1987, the iconic red and white Champéry cable car whisks you to a height of 1,962 metres in under 5 minutes.The cable car linking Champéry to the Croix de Culet was built in 1987 by the famous ropeway transport company Garaventa. The 2 cabins hold 125 people, with an hourly flow of 1,000 people. The cable car spans a distance of 899 vertical meters from the departure point at 1,037 m altitude to the arrival point at 1,936 m. At the top, pedestrians in search of tranquillity will be awestruck by the panoramic views from the Croix de Culet while skiers can access the vast Portes du Soleil ski slopes. In summer, mountain bikers can set off for a multitude of downhill and enduro trails and hikers equipped with the Multi Pass can take the cable car and all of the Portes du Soleil lifts for free. At the arrival point, and the jumping-off point for the ski slopes, you will find a restaurant, snack bar, restrooms, and panoramic views from a vast, sunny terrace. How to get here? If you are arriving by car, there is a large car park in front of the cable car. It is free in summer and costs CHF 5.- per day in winter. Overnight parking is not allowed in winter. The AOMC regional train arrives right at the departure station of the cable car ('Champéry' stop).

This quaint alpine hut is one of the most popular stops on the slopes.Everybody knows Yoyo and Jibi - the friendly hutkeepers of this typical alpine auberge. Winter or summer, this is the perfect place to stop for an authentic taste of Valaisan specialities. On some winter nights, you can hike up on touring skis or on snowshoes for a delicious fondue straight from the alpine pastures. The expression 'comfort after effort' was never truer than at Yoyo and Jibi's place!
