La Vièze en Bêtre

Description

Walk to the neighboring village of Val d'Illiez, following the banks of the rushing Vièze River in the pastoral valley hidden just below Champéry.

Champéry - Progrès - Souscex - La Cour - Chavalet - Champéry

Walk along the road from the cable-car in the direction of Grand Paradis. After 500m, turn right to cross under the road and take the trail that leads to the river. Follow the path through the forest, along the river to the trout pools. Cross the old stone bridge at Sous-Sex and turn right to walk along the river. At the next bridge, you'll turn left and walk uphill in the direction of Val d'Illiez. When you get to the the old lumbermill, turn left and follow the pedestrian signs back to Champéry.

Good to know:
Stop at Chalet Rosalie where you can fish for trout then eat your catch hot off the grill, prepared for you at the Buvette.
From Val d'Illiez, you can also opt to take the AOMC train home to Champéry (timetable on www.tpc.ch).
