Les Illustres Verviétois "famous people" - eastern circuit

The non-profit organisations Maison du Tourisme du Pays de Vesdre and Verviers Ambitions (management and development of Verviers town centre) are delighted to introduce you to the new "Les Illustres verviétois" tourist trail.

Verviers, our wool-making town, is undoubtedly rich in its industrial past, its culture and its famous people... 

With this in mind, historian Freddy Joris, chairman of the Comité Scientifique d'Histoire de Verviers and former director of the Institut du Patrimoine wallon, has written "La Nouvelle Biographie verviétoise", the first three volumes of which give an excellent account of those who have inevitably left their mark on Verviers.

Around thirty of these famous people, "Les Illustres verviétois", are highlighted on a whole series of panels on the fronts of houses and businesses in Verviers.
