With its steep slate roofs and granite stones, Meymac proudly displays its mountain character. At the gateway to the Millevaches plateau, Meymac's picturesque lanes wind through the upper town, around the clock tower, and the lower town, around the former Saint-André abbey. The highest point in the Corrèze at 977 metres, Mont Bessou offers a spectacular panorama of the wild landscapes of the Millevaches plateau. Perched at its summit, the 26-metre-high panoramic tower invites you to climb its 136 steps to enjoy a view at an altitude of over 1,000 metres. Once you've reached the top, marvel at the 360° view over the Cantal, Sancy and Auvergne mountains, and as far as Puy de Dôme on a clear day. An orientation table will help you spot the landforms and emblematic sites visible on the horizon. Accessible via a woodland path, this site is a real invitation to escape and contemplate. A must for nature lovers, landscape enthusiasts and those in search of exceptional views.

The Arboretum de Saint Setiers, which has been awarded the "Remarkable Garden" label, is a little gem which is open to the public. Covering an area of 3 hectares, it contains over 130 species of trees and flowerbeds, offering a wide range of atmospheres, from century-old trees to flowers lining the paths. You'll be able to experience the relationship with trees that's right for you. You'll discover trees that are rare or remarkable for their age and size, trees of light and shade. You'll take time to discover them, awakening your five senses: sight, hearing, smell, taste and touch. At the end of your visit, you can discover the "My friends the trees" exhibition.

A 17th-century chapel, with its strangely shaped rocks ("La Grenouille", "La Pierre Branlante") or enigmatic rocks (it is assumed that some were used for sacrifices in Celtic times), its hundred-year-old beech trees and its vast panorama over the Plateau. Every August, an open-air mass is held to celebrate Saint Roch's Day.

The oldest parts of Tarnac's Romanesque church date back to the 12th century. It is dedicated to St. George (an escutcheon depicting the knight slaying the dragon still adorns the entrance door). The church features two adjoining naves. A Romanesque nave was joined in the 14th century by a second Gothic nave with three bays, ending in a flat chevet to the east and a bell-wall to the west. The interior is accessed via a beautiful frieze-chapiteau portal, open to the north and framed by two bas-reliefs. The interior features a 17th-century altarpiece and mural painting. Free admission. The church is open daily.

The Les Cars archaeological site is one of the most remarkable ancient sites in the Limousin. Between moorland and forest, on the Plateau de Millevaches, a villa and two temple tombs tell the story of a history that goes back almost 2,000 years. The identity of the owners is unknown. But is that the most important thing? Here, for example, the site is undefended and inordinately luxurious: surprising, isn't it? Probably a sign of a long period of peace and wealth? There are surprises for everyone, young and old, history buffs, those curious about construction techniques, agriculture, water management, religious rites, heritage, enigmas? and even hygiene! So, throughout the visit, the Les Cars site tells us almost as much about ourselves as it does about the Roman imperial period.

A biological environment of major European interest, this peat bog lies at an altitude of 900m in the communes of Meymac, St Merd-les-Oussines, Chavanac and St Sulpice-les-Bois. It occupies a huge 250ha depression, where numerous springs and streams merge to form the Vézère. Its size, unusual landscapes and the diversity of its flora and fauna make the Tourbière du Longeyroux one of the natural gems of the Plateau de Millevaches.
