Nestled on the banks of the Dordogne, Argentat sur Dordogne was for centuries a great trading port From the Lestourgie quay, the barges loaded with wood, leather and oil left You will take great pleasure in strolling along the old-fashioned cobbled quays to admire the fishermen's houses topped with lauze, the noble facades and their turrets. Rue Sainte-Claire has some beautiful residences, such as the Hôtel de Turenne.

The remains of a feudal fortress (11th and 14th centuries), the Carbonnières site comprises two square towers (the south tower for defensive purposes and the north tower for residential purposes) and a village abandoned in 1951. It's easy to let your imagination run away with you and discover the secret of the beautiful Catarina... The visit is free and self-guided, thanks to a 4-minute walk (3.5km) marked out on site. It's accessible for the whole family, but with a slight difference in altitude.

Les Fermes du Moyen Age is an open-air site where authentic buildings have been reassembled to form a 15th-century village! This village, still under construction, bears witness to the rural life of the people of Xaintrie (nestled between the Dordogne valley and the Auvergne volcanoes). You'll enter several fully furnished farmhouses dating from the late 15th century, as well as outbuildings such as the mill, the chapel and the notary's dwelling. You'll be amazed by the scents and ambience, the domesticated animals in their stables and meadows, the smoke-filled, blackened kitchens, not to mention the gardens with over 350 plants.

A succession of different atmospheres to stimulate both the senses and the mind. These are: themed gardens that sublimate the art of landscaping: Japanese gardens, rose collections, the wet meadow... Sensory gardens, offering a range of escapades (scented, velvety, white or sunny) inviting you to dream, relax and escape. Bridge spanning the Dordogne river, linking the communes of Saint-Merd-Lapleau and Auriac. The Chambon bridge was built to replace the old bridge (built in the 19th century), which was drowned by the water reservoir when the Chastang dam was built between 1947 and 1952.

Castle of the XVth century, entirely restored. Located at 3 km from Clergoux, in a magnificent green setting and surrounded by ponds, the Domaine de Sédières, property of the Conseil départemental de la Corrèze, offers you all year round the practice of physical activities and outdoor leisure activities. Numerous road and mountain bike routes are available from the certified bike base to explore the surrounding area. You can also take advantage of marked hiking trails. For a more playful walk, try the free treasure hunt proposed by Terra Aventura, the geocaching application that is a hit with families! And depending on the time of year, you can also practice a 160-meter long zip line or archery, but also participate in workshops to build and fly kites.

Surrounded by the meandering Doustre river, the village is made up of Roche-Haute, on the edge of the plateau, and Roche-Basse, 100 m lower down, built into the hillside. Characteristic of Roche-Basse, known from the 9th century onwards, are the narrow paths known as "courrijoux", which gave access to the terraced fields, and the Tour Canillac, from the small square with its fountain, which bears witness to the medieval imprint of the site.

Come and discover the role of the Chastang dam, its characteristics and the challenges of hydroelectricity, by visiting the inside of the dam and its ODYSSELEC area, which is open to the public. A visit to the plant is available at an additional cost (strongly recommended): a guide will take you deep into the workings of hydroelectricity, accompanying you to the heart of this exceptional structure. Due to the Vigipirate and security plans, the visit is limited to 15 people and to children aged 8 and over. Animals not allowed (except guide dogs)

This new lookout, set in a forest in the Dordogne Gorge, offers a breathtaking view of the Chastang dam, commissioned in 1951.

Inaugurated in 1958, this is the smallest dam on the Dordogne, but also an original structure. Far from the spectacular constructions of the past, it gently harnesses water and filters it like an hourglass. Height 35 m. Reservoir 9 km. No inside tour of the dam.
