A 5km nature trail winding through hillsides and woodland, in a beautiful protected area.
A 4.5km educational walk in the countryside. Discover the local flora through around fifty information boards and pass through a variety of landscapes: woodland, hillsides, community gardens… The Mauressac woods are designated as a Znieff (a natural area where biodiversity can flourish); you might even spot a doe along the way!...
The trail is accessible all year round. Please take care if it has rained recently (the stream may have burst its banks, in which case you’ll need to turn back towards the end of the trail).
- There is just one street running through the village. Park at Place de la Bascule, opposite the Town Hall. Continue along the pavement running alongside the D40 and turn right onto Chemin de Pyra (towards the Enchanted Forest). At the end of the road, turn left to join the nature trail.
- After a stretch of tarmac road, you’ll come to the first ford. Please note: if there has been heavy rain recently, you’ll need to turn back – the streams in this area can be unpredictable. Carry on straight ahead to the second ford and head up alongside the gardens. Keep going straight on until you reach the village.
5/ Tour of the village - If you’d like to make the most of your visit, there are information boards describing the local heritage dotted around the village. You’ll find them on the square in front of the Town Hall, at the church, on the high street and by the pottery mural. The last ones are located in the hamlet of Mercadier, by the school. Allow an extra 45 minutes.
