Path of the Château de Lagarde

Following rivers, crops and meadows, crossing streams, the itinerary will lead the hiker to the Vère-Grésigne leisure centre from the village of Castelnau-de-Montmiral.

The hiking trail starts at the foot of Castelnau-de-Montmiral, whose name comes from Castelnou, meaning new castle, and mon mirailh, meaning a mountain. The village stands on a promontory on the edge of the chain of hills along the left bank of the Vère. This position, which enables the upstream and downstream parts of a large part of the river basin to be watched, was perfectly suited to a castle and a village in the Middle Ages.
