Au départ d'Hourtin Plage, face au camping ou du parking Sud, emprunter la piste cyclable direction le sud vers Carcans-Océan. Durant 5,5 km vous longerez le fameux cordon dunaire.
Après 1km6 suivez la direction "Carrefour de la Sippe" vous découvrirez la faune et la flore de la forêt des Landes.
Au niveau du "carrefour de la sippe", prenez direction "carrefour du lac" et enfin la route des phares (fermée de mai à septembre à la circulation automobile) Au stop reprendre à gauche pour revenir à Hourtin-Plage.
La réserve naturelle nationale des Dunes et Marais d'Hourtin s'étend sur plus de 2100 hectares. La boucle des Genêts vous permettra d'admirer une spécificité de cette réserve : les dunes de la façade océane et la flore et la faune des forêts de pins et de chêne de la forêt domaniale.
The Natural Reserve of Dunes and Marsh of Hourtin is an area of 2150 ha, which presents all the scenery of the Aquitaine sandy coast: beaches, dunes, forest of pines and oaks, swamps and lake! The management of this area is entrusted to the National Forestry whose personal undertake surveillance, scientific monitoring and public reception. You can discover this site from various hiking trails, horseback or bicycle (departures at Contaut, Piqueyrot and Hourtin beach). Note the Education Trail Lagoon Contaut where the visitor crosses the marsh on a beautiful wooden platform (accessible platform motor and visual disabilities). Guided tours are also offered free throughout the year for school and general public: don't hesitate to register directly from Médoc Ocean!
A wooden walkway in the heart of the forest helps visitors acquaint themselves with the types of trees typically found in permanently wet soils that have become a biological reservoir for a wide range of animal species.
