Don't be fooled by the peaceful landscape surrounding the Etang de la Chaume! From this very pleasant starting point, the route heads due south after a short excursion into the village of Azérables, and then takes in a succession of bumps and hollows - modest indeed, but numerous... The Chemin du Marchat, at the halfway point, is a non-stop, slightly downhill stretch of 2 km, very pleasant to do, with a beautiful view to boot.
This trail is part of circuits 25 (black) and 23 (blue): triple signposting almost the entire length. Be extra-careful when crossing the D1, especially the second time around: some cars speed along. Please slow down a little when crossing the Villaugoueix, to avoid running into any farmyard animals that may be loitering on this narrow stretch of road...
