Description

This hike on the borders of the Île-de-France region leads you along the Seine, restructured by man to cut off the meanders and then crosses the cross the wet plains, the reed beds where the Seine once flowed.

Guidebook with maps/step-by-step

1- With the town hall behind you, turn right onto Rue de l'Eglise which becomes a street and then Allée du Château.

2- Turn left onto D59A and, 1 km further on, onto the path through the fields. It crosses the grove, crosses the watercourse, runs around the woods to the right. At the edge of the woods, turn right and stay on the road to D49A1.

3- Turn left, cross the bridge, follow the road to the left near the Seine. Take the path on the right and then the one on the left. It leads across the lock bridge.
Turn left on the path that runs along the bypass canal. It crosses the bridge over the Old Seine, becomes a towpath by edge of the Seine. After passing under the road bridge, leave the shore on the right to enter the hamlet of Port Montain.

4- Turn right twice to take Rue du Pont (D49). After the Seine, turn right and follow the curve of the river. Enter Grisy-sur-Seine via Rue du Bac and, at the crossroads, take the path on the right.
Walk around the water to the right and on to Grande Rue. Turn right then left, Rue de Bombelles. It crosses a street, turns left, crosses Grande Rue and becomes Rue de l'Est.

5- Turn right on Chemin des Pâtures and left on the path that leads back to the Seine. Follow it to the right. At the lock of Vesoult (no. 8), turn right. Stay on the path, continuing past those on the right, to D49.

6- Turn right twice. The street becomes a path that runs alongside the cemetery, then back to the street. Cross D49 to Rue des Arches and continue along the path.
Turn left onto D59A to return to marker 2. At the junction, follow step 1 backwards to return to the starting point.
