Bellefontaine is known throughout the region for the quality of the water from the Saint Furcy spring (listed heritage site since 1990). He is the patron saint of the church.According to tradition, when Saint Furcy passed through Gaul around 650 AD, he caused a spring to gush out, known as the "Fontaine Saint Furcy". The village was built around the spring and the cross that Saint Furcy himself had planted, and later around the church that replaced it and was built by order of Godefroid de Bouillon in honour of the Saint (1090).According to legend, in the 7th century, Saint Furcy caused a spring to gush forth from this spot. After a few days, a woman suffering from eczema dipped her hand in the spring and was cured. The sculpted granite monument is made up of 4 columns and surmounted by the statue of the saint.The Saint Furcy spring is topped by a beautiful granite monument carved into the rock. The grotto was blessed by Bishop Heylen of Namur on 20 September 1923. There is a lovely viewpoint overlooking the valley of the Ténépont stream.
