Les pavillons du palais Vaissier

[Circuit Eclectisme Artistique et Architectural]Dans la rue de Mouvaux, vous pourriez bien passer, sans même les remarquer, devant ces 2 pavillons en briques blanches et turquoises, véritables vestiges du palais Vaissier. Victor Vaissier, visionnaire et créateur, a hérité d'une savonnerie et a fait appel à l'architecte Edouard Dupire Rozan pour construire un véritable palais de Maharadjah en 1892 surmonté d'une coupole de style oriental. Le palais fut occupé par l'état major de l'armée allemande pendant la Seconde guerre mondiale puis détruit en 1929. Hélas, seuls subsistent le pavillon du concierge (rue de Mouvaux) et celui du jardinier (angle des rues de Mouvaux et du Congo). [Circuit Ici c'est ailleurs : Itinéraire Tour du Monde... et d'Ailleurs]ICI / Un Palais des 1001 nuits sur le dos d’éléphants tel était le souhait de Victor Vaissier, industriel ayant fait fortune dans le savon ! Construit en 1892 par l’architecte Edouard Dupire-Rozan, dans un mélange de style néo-persan hindou-mauresque, très exotique à l’époque, cet édifice fut délaissé à la mort de son propriétaire en 1923 puis finalement démoli en 1929. De ce rêve grandiose, il subsiste deux pavillons à cheval sur Tourcoing et Mouvaux, celui du gardien et celui du jardinier, et une grotte en rocaille cachée dans un jardin voisin. (20 rue de Mouvaux). AILLEURS / Indes : le Taj Mahal (« Couronne du Palais ») Situé à Agra en Indes, au bord de la rivière Yamuna, le mythique édifice a été construit entre 1631 et 1648. Mausolée de marbre blanc, ce monument funéraire combine de nombreux styles architecturaux orientaux et est l’hommage d’un empereur à la mémoire de sa défunte épouse.
