A panoramic hike heading for the magnificent view at the Chirol Cross. Hike n°36 in the "Annonay-Serrières" topographical guide on sale from the Ardèche Tourist Information Office.

Steps
Départ Saint-Marcel-lès-Annonay
Départ du panneau « Info Rando » près de la Mairie. Montez à droite de l’église par la rue de la Poste. Après quelques escaliers empruntez la route de Montlevier. Gardez ensuite cette direction. Après la maison de Montlevier on arrive à une intersection en T. Montez sur le chemin carrossable de gauche et gardez-le jusqu’à l’embranchement suivante.
Les Trèves
On arrive au hameau de Concise qui fait face au sommet de la Pierre Mourelle que vous avez contourné. Prenez la route à droite, passez entre deux maisons de pierres et montez sur le chemin de gauche.
Le Bois de Poids
Vous êtes sur le GR de Pays du Bassin d’Annonay (balisage rouge et jaune). La montée se fait rude mais le panorama le mérite.
Chirol
Continuez la montée pour rejoindre le sommet. Vous pouvez alors profiter de la table d’orientation et du magnifique panorama notamment sur la vallée de la Déûme et les Alpes par temps clair.
Croix de Chirol
Redescendez en restant sur votre gauche.
Le Bois de Poids
La descente se fait par le GR de Pays qui, une fois dans la vallée, suit la piste carrossable. Gardez le cheminement principal.
Chavannes
Traversez le hameau et descendez à Saint-Marcel-lès-Annonay par la petite route.

Ternay lake

Chirol cross
Small summit in headland which rises in 915m over Annonay and which offers a magnificent panorama to 360 °.
