Cross the D926 (take care!), then walk along it towards Nonant-le-Pin.
Turn right off the D926 and continue for 600 m on the gravel path along the D926 until you get to Carrefour de la Tête-au-Loup junction.
Fork left on the Villebadin lane.
Soon after the first house in Bourg-Maheu, turn left onto the path which leads up into the forest of Le Pin-au-Haras. Pass the two forest tracks which cross the path and continue straight on for 1 km.
Continue on the path, then cross the D926 (take care!) and carry on along the small lane ahead. At Carrefour des Perrets junction, continue to the right.
Take the path to your left for 800 m. Continue straight on until you reach Le Vieux-Pin. Pass the church.
At the junction, turn left and head uphill towards the Haras du Pin National Stud.
The Haras National du Pin (stud farm), known as the ‘Versailles for horses’, was built upon orders from King Louis XIV on a 1,000-hectare estate full of greenery. Today, the Haras du Pin is an exceptional place in Normandy and every year, more than 200 days of world-renowned equestrian competitions take place here. There are also countless other tourism and cultural activities. A TOUR OF THE HARAS is an exploration of the whole historic centre of the Haras du Pin. Come and explore the entire stud farm and estate and see how it has evolved throughout the centuries, including the main courtyard, the stables, vast tack room, collection of horse-drawn carriages and a discovery trail. You will also have a chance to meet the horses and discover the different breeds.
While you’re at the Haras National du Pin, come and see a magnificent show with various artists who will present their many equestrian talents, with demonstrations of riderless dressage, impressive acrobatics and more artistic stunts. There is also a touch of comedy added to this show, to appeal to people of all ages. Various shows are held throughout the year depending on the seasons, including a Halloween and Christmas show!
‘Jeudi du Pin’ is an equestrian event with demonstrations of horse dressage and other impressive stunts from various disciplines. Every Thursday from mid-June to mid-September, this show is an all-road presentation of equestrian art, including riderless horses, acrobatics and obstacle jumping.
The Haras national du Pin has 11 electric bikes and 3 children’s MTBs available to ride around the vast Domaine du Pin. There are 3 marked trails to follow. A child’s seat is available (maximum weight 22 kg). Helmet and yellow safety vest can be provided. Golf cart rental: 4-seater electric golf cart. A deposit and proof of identification will be requested, and will be returned to you at the end of the rental.
