La route des abbayes à cheval is a 155 km equestrian trail specially designed for riders, with asphalt sections kept to a minimum.
To discover along the way: Cerisy-la-Forêt: abbey, a jewel of Romanesque art, founded in 1032.
1 - Saint-Fromond: Norman Romanesque abbey founded in the 7th century.
2 - Towpath along the Vire. Today, this path has been transformed into a Voie Verte (Green Way), where you can hike in complete peace and quiet.
3 - Saint-Lô: National Stud
4 - Before leaving the towpath, stop at Les Roches de Ham for an exceptional panoramic view of the Vire Valley.
5 - Hambye via les chemins creux: 12th-century Benedictine abbey on the banks of the river Sienne
6 - La Lucerne d'Outremer: Cistercian Premonstratensian abbey founded in 1143.
7 - La Haye-Pesnel, Dragey-Ronthon: home of galloping horses.
Finish: Bec d'Andaine: from here, you can cross the bay of Mont Saint-Michel on horseback, accompanied by a professional, and finish your journey with a visit to Mont Saint-Michel Abbey.
