Located 4km from Honfleur, the Bois du Breuil is one of the rare forests on the coastline and is open to the public. This forest covering 120 hectares is the property of the Conservatoire du Littoral (Coastal Conservancy). Great variety of species (32 listed species including oak, beech, Scots pine and maritime pine), a fine population of naturalised rhododendrons, large 1,200m path lined with beech trees dating from 1850. Preserved natural wealth thanks to meticulous management in keeping with nature. Access via the RD62 (Equemauville-Pennedepie road). 2 car parks. Round trip, approximately 5km, offering superb views over the Seine bay.
Built during the 17th century, this chapel is richly adorned with paintings and models of ships offered ex voto by sailors. The esplanade bordering the chapel offers fine panoramic views of the Seine estuary, the port of Le Havre and the Pont de Normandie (Normandy Bridge).
Located in Honfleur, the indoor and air-conditioned Naturospace offers an astonishing journey in an Amazonian-style biotope where tropical butterflies fly free. It is home to around a hundred species from South America, South-East Asia and Africa. The plant collections, an essential ingredient in reproducing a natural environment, include several, often rare species, particularly from the Acanthus, Araceous, Heliconia or Orchid families. Particular attention is paid to floral diversity and the presentation of useful tropical plants (fruits and spices). Multicoloured tropical birds can also be seen flying freely. Visit lasts 1 hour.
The houses are home to a scenographic and musical trail that pays tribute to the musician and composer Erik Satie, born here in 1866. The display enables visitors to familiarise themselves with the work of Erik Satie. Audio-guided tour in French or English: 45 minutes/1 hour. Located alongside the Old Harbour, the Musée de la Marine boasts a collection of model ships, objects and souvenirs of the town's maritime history. The ethnography museum presents reproductions of typical Normandy interiors, wardrobes, buffets, objects, headdresses and costumes.
