Terre, eau et patrimoine en Cingal

Nestling in the hollow of a wooded valley where the River Laize runs, all around the castle lies a vast landscaped park with ponds, vegetable garden, rose garden, a fine collection of peonies, dovecote, etc. Outdoor tours from 15th June to 15th September, on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday from 2 to 6 pm and on request.

Founded in 1140 by Robert Marmion, lord of the manorialism of Fontenay-le-Marmion, and finished by his son in 1176. Well-known for being as strict as the abbaye of Trappe. It was partly destroied by an earthquake in 1776, there nowadays remain one part of the facade and some buildings.

The Church of Quilly was built between the 11th and the 14th century. Today, it is one of the region's major cultural sites.

The castle of Bretteville was built in 1768 by Thomas Elie. 15 years late, he let built a cattage in an area of water an meadow. Some rebuildings were realised like wide avenues lined by limes, a reflecting pool and an English garden behind the estate.

The church choir dates from the 12th century. A few Romanesque details remain, including the door that once opened onto the choir. The Gothic vault is late 12th century.
