The walk begins at La Croisette building, in the resort centre, on Place du Forum.
Go down Rue de Plantret (passing in front of the Forum building), then take the first turning on the left towards the Le Praz telecabin arrival station.
From the upper telecabin station of Le Praz in Courchevel 1850, follow the path under the telecabin cable and cross the Plantrey slope.
(Watch out for skiers descending the slope).
Continue by crossing the button lift line and go into the forest. You are now on the Ecureuils footpath.
Go along this wide footpath for 500 metres then turn down a little path that goes back in the opposite direction. You then arrive at the Bouc Blanc cross-country ski slope.
On the other side of the cross-country ski slope, look for a path opposite that heads left and goes down into the forest. Follow this path until you come to another cross-country ski slope, "Brigues –Chantery" (altitude: 1500 metres).
Go back a few metres to the left, then go down into the forest again along a small footpath. You arrive at a clearing, the Mateigena plateau. Turn left along the path going slightly uphill and cross the plateau; you will pass under the Praz telecabin, and then under the old route of the Forêt telecabin.
After crossing the plateau, turn right along a narrow footpath and go down to Lake Praz.
