Beautiful house from the start of the 16th century called the "Maison Renaissance", a listed historic monument thanks to the presence on the upper fl oor of a corner transom window.The Porte de Saint-Etienne, part of the ancient ramparts, is built against it. The old Ursulines Convent was founded in 1650. Today, inside the cloister, is the KFT.In the inside courtyard you can see the Cloisters, with magnificent XVI and XIX century galleries and an incredible view over the Plains of the Mont du Forez. Opening : For events and guided visits.

Elle est toujours debout et surveille votre ascension vers le centre-ville.Cette porte ancienne, que l'on appelle aujourd'hui Porte de St-Etienne, se situe au bas de la rue... de St-Etienne ! Cette rue étroite et chargée d'histoire, tout en pente (attention les genoux) permettait de rejoindre le bourg depuis les remparts.

And here you are at the source!Because it is in Saint-Galmier that they have been drawing and bottling Badoit for 150 years, the water that features on the most refined of tables. We're not sure if it's thanks to the virtues of the local mineral water that the horses at the town's racecourse gallop so fast... But there's nothing to stop you going and placing a coin or two on Yellow Cassock or Polka Dot Pink.
