The Bois de Nèfles Ecological Reserve (via the Sentier Cambourg)

DURATION: 3-hour loop 

 

ITINERARY

From Saint-Paul, take the direction of Le Maïdo. Follow the  Le Maïdo forest road. Turn left at the wooden sign to "Ilet Alcide".

 

Use the same directions at the beginning of the walk as the "Ilet Alcide Loop Walk". After 40 minutes walking, you will arrive at a first crossroads. Turn right and follow the orange signs, in the direction of the Sentier Cambourg (RF Oméga/ RF Cryptomerias/ Par réserve biologique).

 

After 50 minutes walking, having passed two small wooden staircases, you will reach another intersection. Continue to follow the direction of RF des Cryptomerias, which will take you on the forest road, allowing you to get back to your vehicle.

 

During this hike through diverse landscapes, you will cross forests of tree ferns and nastus bamboo, forests of tamarinds and forests of cryptomerias.

 

Be careful not to trip on tree branches hanging low on the ground, which need to be stepped over.

 

Practical information:  There is no view of the Cirque de Mafate on this hike.
