


The Col des Ares is perfect for preparing for more serious climbs (category 2 - average gradient 3.9% - maximum gradient 11%).
From Marignac station, turn right onto the D 125 towards Chaum and then Fronsac. The climb up the Col des Ares starts here, before descending to Juzet-d'Izaut. Once in the centre of the village, head towards Izaut-de-l'Hôtel, Sauveterre-de-Comminges and then Barbazan. Return to Marignac, first via the D 825 and then the D 125.
1 - From the station, turn right and at the roundabout, turn right again onto the D 125.
2 - At the next intersection, turn right towards Chaum/Fronsac (D 618).
3 - After the railway line, turn left towards Fronsac.
4 - Drive through the village, then turn right and begin the climb up the Col des Ares on a long straight road (D 618).
5 - After the pass, head towards Izaut de l'Hôtel (D 39c).
6 - You will pass through the villages of Payssous (D 34) and Sauveterre-de-Comminges (D 26).
7 - At Sauveterre, at the top of the hill, turn left towards Barbazan (D 26).
8 - Drive through this village and head towards Loures-Barousse.
9 - On leaving Loures-Barousse, head towards Esténos then Cierp-Gaud (D 825).
10 - At the roundabout, turn left to reach Marignac station.
