Description
Easy family walk in the hills above Annecy. From the Basilique de la Visitation, under the shade of the pines, you'll gently discover the beautiful views over the lake and the town, passing by the Grande Jeanne wildlife park.
Set in the heart of the Crêt du Maure forest, this walk is ideal for warm weather, allowing you to discover Annecy in a different way, avoiding the crowds of the Old Town.
The itinerary begins at the foot of one of the most emblematic monuments of the local heritage: the Basilique de la Visitation. Visible for miles around, this edifice bears witness to the town's religious past and plunges you into the history of the Visitation Order.
The path winds its way through the pine forest, taking you to the heights of the Sainte Catherine valley and its convent. You'll come across several belvederes along the way.
From the Pas de l'Echelle, Grande Jeanne and Gélinottes vantage points, you can admire the whole of the Annecy basin, with the Mandallaz and Montagne d'Age in the background.
From Les Puisots, the loop continues on the Sévrier side to return to your starting point. La Croix du Crêt offers a beautiful backdrop with a breathtaking view of the lake.
You and your family will also have the opportunity to discover the Grande Jeanne wildlife park. Fallow deer, stags, hinds and mouflons... Take the time to admire all these animals in their natural habitat.

Guidebook with maps/step-by-step
1/ From the "La Tambourne" signpost, follow the signs for "Les Puisots par Belvédères". Always following this direction (Les Puisots), you will pass by the following places: "Pas de l'Echelle (Belvédère)", "La Grande Jeanne (Belvédère)", "Rond Point des Ecureuils", "Belvédère des Gelinottes", "Sur la Crête" and "Pas de l'Âne".
2/ At the "Les Puisots" signpost, head for "La Tambourne par Croix du Crêt". Follow "La Tambourne" back to your starting point. You will pass through "Les Maréchaux", "Croix du Crêt" and "La Montagne Nord", "Bois Brûlé", "Super Panorama" (Nb: the direction of the animal park is indicated in 5 minutes), and "Gaillard".
