The Giffre is an outstanding mountain river. It crosses Samoëns and allows all water-related activities.At the bottom of the valley, the Giffre river imperturbably unfolds its meanders of pebbles and gravel. A mountain torrent fed by the innumerable waterfalls of the Bout du Monde and Fer-à-Cheval, the Giffre becomes narrow and deep in the Tines gorges to let itself be won over by its desire for width further downstream in the Vallon plain. There, its banks and its pebble and sand beaches give free rein to water games, ephemeral dams and invigorating bathing. Lovers of rafting, kayaking and hydrospeed can enjoy themselves to the fullest. The Giffre does not stop at such a good bed and feeds both bodies of water at the leisure base. A vast and quiet area where you can fish for trout, try your hand at water golf or try your hand at the accro-branche course.

This chapel was built in the 17th century at the site of a sulphuric spring that could heal certain skin complaints. The chapel was an important pilgrimage venue throughout the Giffre valley.

The Berouze Chapel is dedicated to the apostles' Peter and Paul. It is one of the nine chapels located in the hamlets of Samoëns.Its origin lies in the transport of the ruins of the chapel founded at the Col de Couz in 1468. This chapel was destroyed in 1476 during the invasion of Faucigny by the Swiss troops. Today's chapel was built on the Place du Bérouze in 1481. It was restored again in 1660, as the Latin inscription on its façade reminds us: "Noble Bernard Ducis, fortunately, raised me at his expense in the year of the Lord 1660". After losing its bell during the Revolution, it was found again in 1824. A new restoration was carried out in June 2010. Inside the religious building, the painting on the altarpiece features the three favorite Jesus' apostles: Peter James and John. They are represented in a mountain landscape surrounded by an Italian town: Peter with the keys and the pallium, John as a young man raising his hand to heaven, and finally, the older and already slightly bald James is painted joining his hands in a gesture of prayer. The painting was a gift from Abbot J.F. Gindre and is a masterpiece of the painter Edouard Cabanne signed and dated 1879. This 19th-century painter is notably responsible for the four large panels in the church of Salies. Numerous of the paintings he made are also kept at the Fine Arts Museum in Bordeaux and at the Saint-Denis Museum in Reims. The Bérouze chapel and the eight other chapels in the hamlets of Samoëns can be visited during hikes in the Alps. There are visits organized by the association "Les Amis des chapelles" and partial tours. These are well signposted and are organized by the Syndicat Intercommunal de la Vallée du Haut-Giffre and the General Council.

A unique area with impressive rock faces, cliffs 2000 metres high, and hiking trails past numerous waterfalls.Some waterfalls at Fond de la Combe and Nants des Peres at Fer a Cheval are fed by glaciers. If you begin at the bar/restaurant at Plan des Lacs and look towards the Pic de Tenneverge, you'll see two notable waterfalls below the Corne du Chamois: la Meridienne , and to the right of that, la Pierrette. This is also called la Fontaine de l'Or and is one of the highest. Further to the right, on the cliffs of Le Fer a Cheval, are other waterfalls, for example the Joaton, Pissevache, the Lyre (one of the most beautiful), and the Genette. Even further to the right are le Saint-Jacques, la Citerne, le Folly, and la Massue waterfalls. Going in to the Fond de la Combe valley, to the left of the Corne du Chamois, there are many other waterfalls such as le Rejon, la Cage, la Scie, le Violon, and la Gouille. Leaving Fer a Cheval and following the Giffre downstream youi'll find the village of Le Brairet between Le Molliet and Les Curtets. Above this is Le Dard waterfall.

A monumental church by its size but also by its history !Built between 1824 and 1834 by the architect Prosper Dunant, the St Jean-Baptiste church is from the last architectural style of the States of Savoy : neo-classic Sardinian. Before, it was the biggest of the diocese of Annecy : 58 m length, 27 m wide and 18 m height. The facade of the building looks austere with few ornaments, but inside there is a profusion of decoration : paintings on the vault and pillars, stalls, carved wood and multicolored stained glasses. The visitor will visit a religious building and will discover how the jacquemarde population was decorating its churches there during the XIXth century.
