Departure - Orival parking area.
Take the footbridge and go straight on to rue Saint Martin. At the end of the street, turn right then left, rue du Maquis, as far as the parish church. Go up the main street on the right, towards Castres.
Variante - 5 - 300m further on (alternative: continue along the winding track to the main track, cross it and continue uphill to reach the St-Jammes site), turn right onto a winding path that leads to a main track. Turn right to join route d'Arfons.
7 - When the road goes down towards Malcoustat stream, leave it. Continue straight ahead on the road to Jacournassy. At next two intersections, always take left "chemin des crêtes" (the crest path). After about 1500m, locate the Peyre Ficada on the right, a rock bearing traces known as "cupula", of Neolithic origin and of unknown explanation. The path arrives at a crossroads: leave the marked path on the left that goes down to Durfort and two other paths on the right. Then, go straight.
8 - Entering the site known as the gate of Berniquaut, an ancient Roman road (mountain bike variant: continue straight ahead and join the main path after the bypass of the site), turn left, go up to the Oppidum (ancient village, visible ruins). Exceptional views on a clear day: Castrais and Lauragais plains, Mandre valley, Sorèze, Saint Ferréol basin, Durfort valley. Follow the path down through the rocks, follow the crest and then turn right on the path going down through the rocks.
1 - At the exit of the village, turn right on route d'Arfons. Above the cemetery, turn left into a shady path. Continue along the path through the grove, crossing the chicanes or other passages between the pastures. Continue to climb up to Causse plateau
2 - At the crossroads: leave the marked path on the left and that of the orientation table on the right (5 minutes return). Continue straight ahead along the quarry fence, then join the track and follow it to the right, still following the quarry.
3 - At the old Pistre farm, leave the optionnal SHORTER TRACK which goes down and take the left the path which goes up. About 800m further, at the crossroads, leave a signed circuit on the left and turn right. Next crossroads, turn left and continue the go up for about 350m to the refuge.
4 - Leave two tracks on the left and follow the track that goes down and over the Orival stream; 100m later, take left, the path goes up through the fir forest until a big meadow where the beech tree of Saint Jammes and the ruins of the old chapel are located. Then go down to join the road to Arfons.
5 - Take the road on the left for about 350m and then take the Montagnet track on the right for about 1700m.
6 - At the entrance to the property, follow the road to the right towards Sorèze, for about 1300m.
9 - Follow the path down through the rocks, skirting the ridge and then turning right onto the path with its many twists and turns until you reach the tarmac road. Further along, turn right to reach the car park.
Variante - 3 - At the old Pistre farm, take the path heading down into Orival stram valley. Cross the bridge and continue downhill for about 350 m.
Variante - 4 - Turn left (acute angle) onto a track, initially private, which climbs up into the woods.
Variante - 6 - Follow it to the left for about 20m, then climb a steep slope to the left and keep going uphill until you reach the road again. Cross the road and continue uphill on the footpath. You will come to a small tarmac road, which you should follow to the right. At the end of the climb, turn right onto the Chemin de la Jacournassy (follow the description at stage 7).
