Le Vigan - Montdardier - Rogues - Madieres St Laurent - Roquedur - Le Vigan

Discovering the Causse, starting with a steep climb (650m+).

From the vacation village, take the D999 for 200m, then turn left towards Avèze, which you will cross to join a long climb, gentle at first then steep and winding, to Montdardier (via the D48s), to reach the edge of the Causse de Blandas plateau. You'll pass an imposing castle that looks like Sleeping Beauty.

Then the road becomes straighter - next stop Rogues, backed by an oppidum, then down to Madières, a village straddling the Gard and Hérault departments, at the bottom of the Vis gorges. The D25 takes you to St Laurent le Minier via Gorniés.

On the way, admire the magnificent waterfall before heading back up to the village of St Laurent and via the D110 to the Col des Aires (near St Bresson) and then back down to Le Vigan.
