Le Vigan - Roquedur - Pont d'Hérault - Le Rey Mandagout - St A. de M. - Taleyrac - Aulas - Mars - Aumessas - Arrigas - Alzon - Vissec - Blandas - St Maurice de Navacelles - Madières - Rogue - Montdardier - St Laurent le Minier - St Bresson - Le Vigan
This is a truly rugged, demanding and beautiful route - between the Cévennes and the Causse, and almost exclusively in the Pays Viganais.
Before the Super U turn right, then follow signs for Roquedur on the D291 to Pont d'Hérault. Head for Le Vigan as far as Le Rey (D999), then turn right after the bridge onto the D329 to Mandagout. From there, take the D170 back down to St André de Majencoules, which you continue to Le Mazel to take the Taleyrac valley (D323) - you'll see on either side a landscape typical of the Cévennes sweet onion crossings - to the Peyrefiche and Vieilles passes, the highest point of your outing. It's all uphill here!
Take the D329 down to Mandagout, then the D170 to Col des Mourèzes - before you reach Le Vigan, turn right to Aulas - cross the D48 and go down a narrow street to the village square - turn left on the D190 to Les Plans - turn right on the D272 to Mars and Col de Mouzoules, then back down to Aumessas (D372) and continue to Arrigas (D789) to reach Alzon via La Bruyère. In Alzon, turn left into the Vis valley towards Vissec (D814), then up to Blandas (D113) before discovering the Navacelles cirque (D713), descending to the very bottom of it on a winding road, and returning to St Maurice de Navacelles via the D130 (in the Hérault).
The D25 will take you to Madières and the D48S will take you up to Montdardier and back down to St Laurent le Minier via the D113. We suggest a short detour to admire the waterfall before heading back up to St Bresson (via the D110) and back down to Le Vigan.
