The 5 passes on the left bank of the Hérault

Le Vigan - Valleraugue - Col du Pas - Les Plantiers - Col de l'Asclier - Col de la Tribale - Sumène - Cap de Coste - Le Vigan

You'll experience mountain roads typical of the southern Cévennes.

Start on the D999 towards Ganges. At Pont d'Hérault, turn left up the Hérault valley (D986) to Valleraugue, where you begin the climb to your first pass (500m+ over km), the Col du Pas (D10).

A descent then takes you to Les Plantiers (D193), before taking the D20 up to your second pass (another 500m+), the Col de l'Asclier (a spring on the right of the road allows you to fill your water bottles). From here you descend to St Martial via the Bès and Tribale passes.
Continue to Sumène on a winding, narrow road through chestnut groves, which you should negotiate with care.

Take the D11 on your right to start the climb to Cap de Coste (your 5th pass) and join the D999 and Le Vigan via Pont d'Hérault.
