The Causse de Blandas

Le Vigan - Alzon - Blandas - Montdardier Avèze - Le Vigan

This route will take you through the Causse with the possibility of seeing the Navacelles cirque from the Blandas lookout.

You'll start your outing on a relatively busy road (the D999), with a false flat rising profile, before taking the D158, just before the Alzon tunnel, and discovering the landscapes of the Causse, a succession of hills amid limestone rocks, all the way to the village of Blandas.

For those unfamiliar with the cirque de Navacelles, we can only recommend a short round trip (less than 3 km) to the Blandas belvedere, from where you can admire the majestic cirque de Navacelles and the meandering Vis river.

Return along a fairly straight road (the D113) to the village of Montdardier and its imposing château. Then take the winding D48s down to Le Vigan, with its backdrop of the Aigoual massif and the Cevennes mountains.
