Cirque de Navacelles and St Maurice

Description

Le Vigan - Alzon - Blandas - Navacelles - St Maurice de Navacelles - Madières -Rogues - Mondardier- Le Vigan

You're about to cross one of the most beautiful natural sites in France!
You can get your feet wet on a relatively busy road (the D999) for around 16 km - a false flat rising profile - before joining the causse on the D158 and discovering a completely different landscape, a succession of hills amidst limestone rock, all the way to the village of Blandas. After less than 2 kms, the majestic cirque of Navacelles and the meandering Vis river come into view. Tight bends take you all the way to the bottom of the cirque, down to the level of the Vis, before winding your way up to the other side of the Causse, on the Hérault side, where the last few bends are likely to make you stick out your tongue.
The road through the Vis gorges between St Maurice de Navacelles and Madières is a real beauty! The straighter D48S takes you to Montdardier and its imposing castle, before descending the winding road to Le Vigan, with its backdrop of the Aigoual massif and the Cevennes mountains.

Electric bike recharging point at the Blandas belvedere parking lot (bring your own cable).
