Description
This very easy route is ideal for a first hike for younger children.
It starts from the Mourtis station, but it is possible to start from the Col de Mente (trail no. 17), where parking can be difficult.

Detailed stages
1 - Depart from Mourtis station, from the Artigue car park. Take the Chemin des Gardes, to the left of the main track, to the Col de Mente.
2 - Cross the road, pass the forest hut and follow the widest track (no. 17). There is another route via the path to the left of the forest trail, but it is steeper and much more difficult.
3 - After walking for 30 minutes, you will arrive at the Escalette mountain pasture, marked by a hut. The view is magnificent and in summer you can see sheep. Be careful, they are often accompanied by a Patou, a sheepdog responsible for guarding them. Do not approach them and keep your dog on a leash if you have one with you.
4 - Return via the same route.
