Description

This very easy route is ideal for a first hike for younger children.

It starts from the Mourtis station, but it is possible to start from the Col de Mente (trail no. 17), where parking can be difficult.

Dévalkart 1 hour – €15 & Dévalkart 2 hours – €20 🚡 The Bambins ski lift open in summer Perfect for enjoying the Dévalkart with ease or trying out mountain biking under the guidance of the mountain school. 🏕️ New mountain school A wide range of activities on offer: mountain biking, hiking, dog-led hiking, biathlon, tree climbing, multi-activity courses… suitable for all ages, even the very youngest! You can also take part in an orienteering course at the “Mourtis Tout Azimut” resort: this involves finding markers in the forest within a natural setting, following specially designed routes. In winter, the very welcoming Mourtis resort welcomes you to its 19 downhill ski runs and 8 km of cross-country trails. Explore the 45 km of trails that wind through this particularly pleasant woodland setting – there’s something for everyone to enjoy in the snow! New signage has been installed along the ski touring routes. The sledge area, meanwhile, has been made safer and clearly marked. You’ll now find a landing area with soft padding in case of a failed or overly optimistic braking manoeuvre. These improvements aim to ensure the safety of all users, young and old alike, whilst offering a more enjoyable and stress-free experience.

Detailed stages

1 - Depart from Mourtis station, from the Artigue car park. Take the Chemin des Gardes, to the left of the main track, to the Col de Mente.
2 - Cross the road, pass the forest hut and follow the widest track (no. 17). There is another route via the path to the left of the forest trail, but it is steeper and much more difficult.
3 - After walking for 30 minutes, you will arrive at the Escalette mountain pasture, marked by a hut. The view is magnificent and in summer you can see sheep. Be careful, they are often accompanied by a Patou, a sheepdog responsible for guarding them. Do not approach them and keep your dog on a leash if you have one with you.
4 - Return via the same route.
