Hike to Le Cerro

Welcome to the Buvette du Cerro!Accessible on foot, the Buvette du Cerro is located on the right bank of the Bossons glacier, between the Dard waterfall and the Plateau des Pyramides. Signposted path from Les Bossons and the various access parking lots (Dard and Cerro). Cold drinks and snacks are available on the terrace facing the Bossons glacier. Note: no full catering available at present.

A natural site, the glacier descends in a direct line from the summit of Mont Blanc (4807), the highest Alpine peak, by a cascade of ice in levels up to the altitude of 1180 meters, the lowest in the Alps for the terminal tongue of a glacier.The vertical drop of 3670 meters is the largest in the world, for a glacier descending in one piece from the top of the summit to its base. Numerous viewpoints allow to admire the color and the purity of the ice, the lateral moraines, the seracs and sometimes the serac falls.

Parking at the start of the hike to the Chalet du CerroLocated before the Mont-Blanc Tunnel entrance to Chamonix, this parking lot provides access to the Chalet du Cerro. Limited to 350 spaces in winter

Le Dard is a superb waterfall towering 20 meters high at an altitude of 1,233 meters. It offers a beautiful viewpoint about 45 minutes from the centre of Chamonix. View over the Aiguilles Rouges range, the Les Bossons glacier and Mont-Blanc.From Le Grepon car park in Chamonix, turn right on the "Chemin à Batioret » path that leads to the Fabrique des Sonnettes Devouassoud bell workshop by Route Blanche. Cross the footbridge over the torrent and climb up towards Les Molliasses. Ignore the forest track on the left, and turn right as far as the Tunnel access road. Follow it for 50 meters or so then head left along the short cut for a short distance. Continue uphill through the woods, ignoring the path on the right that comes from Les Pélerins. Take the footbridge over the Dard stream and carry on up to the chalet.
