Trail accessible in winter.
If you don't have much time but want to go hiking, head for Cazarilh. This superb promontory offers views of Luchon and the trail runs through the shade of the forest, making it ideal for a late afternoon walk.
From Cazarilh, you can continue to the Tour de Castel-Blancat and the GRP Oueil-Larboust.
Departure from Luchon station. The path climbs steeply at first, then twists and turns as you reach the village of Cazarilh. The return journey is through the forest, arriving opposite Luchon station.
One of the best views of Luchon, without taking the car!
1 - From the Luchon station car park, cross the road to the impasse de la Liberté.
6 - Steep at first, it levels out slightly afterwards, and you climb up into the open, with a beautiful view of Luchon.
2 - Very steep at first, the path then levels out slightly as you climb in the open, with a beautiful view of Luchon.
3 - You will then reach a crossroads (altitude: 870m): the path on the right leads to a ferruginous spring, continue straight ahead towards Cazarilh.
7 - You will then begin the descent into the forest with a view of the entrance to Luchon, on regular hairpin bends.
4 - Follow this slightly uphill path to the village, leaving the slightly uphill path on your right.
8 - At the intersection (altitude 690m), turn right towards Luchon.
9 - You will reach Rue de la Liberté.
5 - 500 metres further on, you will enter the village. Admire the view before starting your return journey.
10 - Turn left onto Avenue Foch to reach the train station, or right to return to the town centre.
