Nestled in the heart of the Lis Valley, this lake's superb colour and shape make it a popular destination for a day out.
Start from the Vallée du Lis car park, cross the footbridge on your left and climb up through the beech forest to the Artigue meadow. At the Coume hut, turn left and follow the marked trail no. 31 to the lake (be aware of herds of cattle with Patou dogs).
Please note that swimming is not permitted in mountain lakes.
1 - Start at the bottom of the Lis valley. The tone is set from the very first metres, and the switchbacks in the beech forest will allow you to find your rhythm.
2 - At the Artigue clearing (1,395 m), you can take your first well-deserved break. The trail continues to climb and quickly joins the stream, which you follow to the junction for the Maupas refuge.
3 - Continue your climb and pass the Coume hut (1,700 m). The trail starts at the bottom of the valley and then climbs up the left side. After a short steep climb, you will arrive at Lac des Graoues, where you will find the newly renovated shepherd's hut.
4 - Just a little more effort and you will arrive just above Lac Vert (2,011 m).
5 - For the descent, take the same route.
