A walk through the hamlets of Sauveterre-de-Comminges, culminating in the 11th-century keep.
This walk takes you through forests and open paths. You will pass through four of the 11 hamlets that make up Sauveterre-de-Comminges and follow sections of the GR86 trail.
- The walk starts in front of the town hall (hamlet of Bruncan). Take the tarmac road on the right behind the town hall. It becomes narrower (signposted ""Barry""), continue straight ahead until you reach the hamlet of Barry.
- You can go up to the Barry tower (turn left) and then return to this intersection.
- Walk along the church and turn right towards the hamlet of Reston. You are now on a small road, continue straight ahead.
- When you reach Reston, turn left, then left again onto a wide path.
- In the forest, the path becomes narrower and steeper. At a fork, turn right (signposted ""Loô"").
- The pretty shaded path descends, running alongside farmland. When you reach the road, turn left to enter the hamlet of Loô.
- Turn left (Chemin d'Aoudette) and pass between the houses. Continue on the track in front of you (leaving the oratory on your right and ""Peyrin"" on your left).
- Turn right, then 50m further on to the left to join the D9 road. Turn left and follow the road downhill for 150m.
- Turn right (Chemin de Sabanos), continue straight ahead on the track towards ""Garnère"" (do not follow the signposting to the right).
- About 300m further on, take the path downhill on the left signposted ""Garnère 20 mn"".
- Go downhill, then a short climb on the track will take you to Garnère. Take the small road in front of you (signposted ""Bruncan 20 min""). Go through the hamlet and, at the war memorial, turn right (towards Barbazan), then immediately left (signposted ""Bruncan 10 min"") and you will see the pretty wash house.
- Continue downhill, following the yellow, red and white markings (GR86).
- At the end of the track, turn left and take a narrow path through the forest which will lead you to the entrance of the hamlet of Bruncan.
- At the road, turn right, and 100 m further on you will find the town hall, the starting point of the hike.
