An unusual climb up to the barns of Astau, this path was once used by shepherds to take their flocks up to the summer pastures.
Start at the exit of the village of Oô and follow the small road between the houses until you reach the barns of Espoujau. The path then descends to the Astau bridge.
1 - Leave your vehicle in the village car park and head towards the village exit in the direction of the Astau barns. Before the bridge, a small sign invites you to turn right onto a tarmac road that quickly becomes a track. The climb is mainly in the shade, making this a good afternoon hike. This path is on the left bank of the Neste d'Oô.
2 - The climb is gentle and steady. You will pass through the barns of Espoujau (1,022 m). After going through a metal gate, you will see the destination of your hike, the Granges d'Astau.
3 - In a few minutes, you will cross the Pont d'Astau bridge to reach the barns, where you can take a break on the terrace of one of the two inns on the site.
4 - The return journey is via the same route.
