Family walk - Grand Roche circuit

Circuit de la Grand Roche (Municipality of Le Ménil). Duration: approximately 2 hours. Difficulty: medium (family walk with children). Lenght: 6 kilometers. Elevation:+ 203 meters. Marking: blue diagonal cross, short unmarked parts on asphalt road, yellow disc, blue cross, yellow diagonal cross, blue disc, end of the route unmarked. Places of interest: the Grand Roche (bench and viewpoint), Cascade du Heuchau. Departure: parking lot in the "La Familiale" multipurpose hall. Access: from Le Thillot, follow the D486 towards Le Ménil. In Le Ménil, turn right after the church, at the restaurant Les Sapins. The "La Familiale" multipurpose hall is 200 meters further on on the right. Description of the route: From the parking lot, take the asphalted road straight ahead. Leave the "La Familiale" multipurpose hall behind you. Do not take the "rue des Chèvres". Continue straight for 50 meters. At the crossroads, go straight on blue diagonal cross and red cross markers. Continue for 300 meters. Arrival at the sign "LePont Charreau" (537m altitude). The bridge is on the right and spans the Ménil stream. Continue on this road for 200m, following the blue diagonal cross signs towards "Chapelle de Pitié". At the 2nd intersection, turn left into "rue des Charrières". Continue straight for about 500 meters. Do not go "chemin des Haies". Turn left into "rue de la Chaume". Walk 400 meters to reach the departmental road. Cross the D486 to take the road opposite. Be careful, there is no pedestrian crossing! Continue straight ahead and follow the yellow disc markers. Do not take the "rue de la Golette". Go straight on the road which climbs yellow disc markings towards the "Chemin des Huttes". Continue on this road for 700 meters yellow disc markings. We can guess the Chapelle de Pitié on the opposite side. Arrival at the chalet de la Golette (chalet closed ). Go back down a little on the road and take the path that climbs in front of you blue cross signpost towards "Le Ménil". Continue on this path for 600 meters. At the crossroads, take the left path with yellow diagonal cross markings. Continue straight for 800 meters, always following the yellow diagonal cross markings. When you reach a crossroads, follow the path marked out on the yellow diagonal cross straight ahead to reach "la Grande Roche ". Be careful, the path crosses a steep slope. Nice point of view on the village of Ménil and the Ballon de Servance from the Grande Roche equipped with a bench. Retrace your steps to the intersection and take the path on the right, blue disc markings. Continue on this trail for about 1 kilometer. It goes near a small cave then a point of view with a bench. Follow the blue disc to the road that runs alongside the campsite and its mini golf course, and continue on this road which goes down for 200 meters. At the intersection, take the left road which climbs for about 500 meters. Go straight ahead, following the "waterfall" direction. Arrival at the Heuchau waterfall. The waterfall is on your left and continues its descent under the bridge. Take the time to take a break there before finishing the walk. To finish the walk, continue on the right road and continue straight for 30 meters. Take the right road following the direction "Chemin de la Cascade" then the path on the left "Return to la Familiale". Be careful, small bridge stone, slippery passage. Go down the trail. Arrived at the D486, cross on the pedestrian crossing then turn left after the stone cross in "rue des Chèvres". Go straight to end the walk.
