





200 million years ago, during the Jurassic era, and more precisely during the Sinemurian period, Metzervisse and Distroff were under water.
Today, we can easily see innumerable traces of the presence of this marine fauna. These are the fossils of the bowed gryphae. A bowfin was a mollusc that we could associate with an oyster. It could live at a depth of up to 50 metres.
