In the middle of the Aspe Valley, the Bedous Plain has a fairly wide flat-bottomed profile, shaped in the past by the planes of the great Quaternary glaciers, which later descended near Oloron. Today it remains an open and bright place, where several villages with traditional architecture enjoy the sweetness of life among the mountains. This mountain bike ride favours the discovery of the built heritage and remains accessible for those who want to put difficulties aside. Feel free to take a few detours here and there to discover traditional houses, barns and other laundry rooms. Along the way, you will stroll south along comfortable country lanes, among flowery meadows and flocks of sheep. What a pleasure, even if your bike battery initially shows only 25% of its capacity!
At the corner of the Lées church (town hall square on the right), go straight on towards Athas (D237). Drive 1.5 km along the left bank of the Gave d'Aspe, to the neighbouring village of Athas. At the main junction (with the D441), turn right onto a side street. On the descent, just before the end of the asphalt (power line and sewage treatment plant), take a country road on the left under the trees. It goes through new meadows (hangar) and runs parallel to a power line.
At the intersection of the Saillet meadows (access to Osse-en-Aspe opposite), turn completely to the right into a new asphalt lane. It approaches a grove; after the Canadian fence, turn left to drive through the sports ground. A path gets in the forest and winds along the Gave d'Aspe, a pleasant stretch for mountain biking. After passing under the N134, a road comes up on the D237 upstream. Ride along the low wall to the right for 50 m, and then go right over the Osse Bridge. As an extension, the rue du Stade will take you back to Bedous, where the opposite rue Laclede, which we took at the beginning, finds the town hall square and the church.
