In the heart of the forest, take advantage of this family outing to explore the charming hamlet of Les Bottières and its secrets. Stop off at Lac du Lou for a picnic, where you may be lucky enough to spot a few fish.
Easy forest loop leading to Lac du Lou, ideal for a family walk. Near the Saint Bernard de Menthon chapel, enjoy an exceptional view of the Aiguilles d'Arves. This Baroque chapel is distinguished by its pointed-arched tufa door. Along the way, educational panels introduce you to mountain flora and fauna. Lac du Lou is a pleasant place to stop for a picnic in the heart of nature. If you opt for the alternative route, discover the charming hamlet of Les Colonnes, a veritable belvedere overlooking the valley and the Aiguilles d'Arves. An orientation table will help you identify the surrounding peaks.

Guidebook with maps/step-by-step
Departure point: Les Bottières tourist office, follow signs for "Sentier découverte des Bottières".
1/ The trail passes near the tennis courts and then descends into the forest.
2/ At the Le Champet crossroads, turn right towards Lac du Lou, passing through Lordière.
3/ After this crossroads, the path crosses the RD78D twice before reaching the lake.
4/ From the lake, return to Aux Bottières via Pierre Glaire on a forest track.
