Take the whole family for a pleasant stroll through the forest to the Chalet du Mélèze, then to the summit of La Chal and its cross. From this vantage point overlooking Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne, enjoy a magnificent view of the valley. It's an ideal spot for a picnic in the sunshine.
On the way back, you can follow the path on the left just after the chalet to descend gently towards Bergein. Then follow the Libertour stream to the Col du Chaussy. This variant adds about 30 minutes of walking with a bit of uphill, perfect for shorter, more experienced hikers.
