Description

Discover the western Chartreuse massif and the Corbeley lookout! This route, often in forest, is ideal for cooling off near the Merderet torrent. Beware: access to the summit is difficult.

D/ Chantres parking lot

1/ Take the stony track that runs under the power line.
After crossing a bridge, turn left and head up into the forest along a yellow-marked path.
After about 1.5 km, you'll see Chalet Lélia on the side. The path crosses the forest track several times until you reach Les Fontanettes (alt. 1070m).

2/ Reach the Col du Planet. Follow the signs for Le Corbeley and turn right at the "Plan du Bouc" intersection (alt. 1220m).
Further on, leave the main track and turn left onto the small path (marked by a small cairn) that climbs into the forest.
After a short climb, you reach the base of the rocks. A cable helps you up the steep slope to the Corbeley lookout.

3/ On the way back, follow the same route to the Col du Planet, where you briefly follow the signs for the Col du Mollard.
After crossing a stream, stay on the path and ignore the tracks leading up on your right.
A little further down, look out for a downhill path on the right, signposted "Tour de la Drière".

4/ Follow the yellow markings downhill for about 2km to reach an unnamed stream, which you cross.
Immediately afterwards, you join a forest track at the Chalet de la Gorgeat.

5/ Follow this road until you reach the Chantres parking lot.
